GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® classes are both part of the same exact movement system with the same principles of movement created by Juliu Horvath. Both methods focus on relieving the body from tension, improving alignment, and freeing up the body to become energetic, strong, and mobile with ease. GYROTONIC® classes are done on the equipment while GYROKINESIS® classes are done without machines. Juliu Horvath started with movement method initially with Yoga for Dancers. Juliu worked with many professional dancers from notable companies. As his classes grew and the diversity of his clientele expanded, he created a format that was accessible to everyone. This more accessible format became the GYROKINESIS® Method. Juliu later created the beautiful machines and created sequences on them with the same movement principles, the GYROTONIC® method. The more advanced movements for dancers are still available as part of the Level 2 GYROKINESIS® Program. Spiral Studio Louisville is the only studio that offers both GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® group classes. Trainer Minh-Tuan Nguyen is certified to teach both Level 1 and Level 2 GYROKINESIS® classes as well as GYROTONIC® classes.

Feeling at home in our bodies doesn't have to be so hard. People are often surprised how much better they feel after a session without exerting themselves so hard. When you're done with a GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® session, you feel lighter, better, and rejuvenated. When your breath, coordination, mobility, strength, and energy lines up all together, you feel amazing. Most other training methods only incorporate very linear movements while our joints need to be able to move and be supported in every direction. With the GYROTONIC® method you move fluidly through multiple planes of motions, addressing every part of your body. You train your body, coordination, nervous system, and align yourself to gain strength and mobility at the end range of your joints, creating expansion in your body. The classes incorporate circular movements that explore every possible movement of the body in a functional, mobilizing, and strengthening way. The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Methods were made by a principal ballet dancer, swimmer, gymnast, and rower named Juliu Horvath. The methods naturally lend itself to help dancers in a way that improves their dancing and helps them find how to get the most of out their bodies. The GYROTONIC® method is practiced by dancers in companies such as The Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, and many more. The natural spiraling movements and elongation principles help dancers find how to access their end range in a healthy way.

Trainer Minh-Tuan Nguyen was a former professional ballet dancer with many years of experience performing, teaching, coaching, and choreographing. He has attended Alicia Head's Inner Life of Ballet Turnout course geared towards movement educators to help dancers find and access their turnout maximally and efficiently. GYROKINESIS® classes are great for office team building. Classes only require a stool or chair and some mats, which can be provided depending on number of participants. Classes feel great for your back and helps mobilize your joints. If you're interested in hosting a class please contact us.
